Well, my first corporate session was actually a photoshoot of Nintendo's new building. Unfortunately I can't post any of those pictures =( They may show up on a website in the near future and I will gladly post the link when I see them =) But, this week I was able to do some head shots and team shots for a company called BiNW. Here is a little sampling of what I did....it was very exciting to be photographing the corporate world, we'll see where it takes me!

(South Lake Union Transit) came by at the perfect time! It was magical, and contributed to why this was my favorite pic of the week....also if you have 800K for one of these condo's....AMAZING!

I had the privilege of taking photo's of these two cuties last Friday. I had such a great time on this photo shoot for many reasons. One being that these two reminded me so much of my own kids personalities, it was so fun to watch them. I was also excited because I took this entire photo shoot in Manual mode on my camera! Which probably means absolutely nothing to many of you...but I think it's a sign that I'm getting more and more comfortable and better!

Oh business cards...

Oh business cards....I love my business cards - ALL 2000 of them! Yes, I ordered 2000 business cards. Why? I have no idea, at the time 2000 cards didn't seem like a lot. And then I got them in the mail....the price for 2000 was not much more than 1000. Why would I need 1000...I have no idea! I do not have a good reason for ordering 2000 business cards. Now I have cards coming out of my a*@ and am trying to find lots of cool things to do with them...like building houses with my 4 year old....

Anyone else have suggestions? Oh, and don't worry, if I have your address you'll be receiving LOTS of business cards from me in the near future....LOTS!

My friend Stacy was looking for the perfect "skull" baby gift for her cousin.

She sent me an E-mail and asked if I could make her something.

A few things to note:

1) LOVE that Stacy was looking for something "Skull"

2) LOVE that Stacy sent me an E-mail request after not seeing something in my shop that would have worked (That is what I'm here for....send me your requests!)

3) She told me who it was for - no biggie (insert sarcasm), just her Major League Baseball player cousin, his wife and cute little baby bundle! I now have a new goal when watching baseball this season....look for the blankie!

Here are some photo's of the finished product. I have enough fabric for two more of these fun travel blankies. Let me know if you are interested! They will show up on my shop in the near future.

Requirements per Stacy: SKULL, BLACK, and RED

SIZE: approx. 18" x 20" - perfect travel cuddle blanket

The back is a soft thin black corduroy...YUMMY!

The SKULL is applique to the top and stitched on

I LOVE IT - now I just need to give SKULL a name, suggestions are welcome!

My friend Stacy has requested me to make a "skull" type blanket. I was on the hunt for some edgy fabric yesterday. None of these include skulls, but during my hunt, I found these fabulous numbers AND I'm in love...

I have lots of ideas running through my head for travel blankets....

Now, if I only had some time...what happened to my time?!?

Good Morning Monday

It's been a long time since I woke up happy on a Monday.

Maybe it's because after 4 long years, my husband graduated this weekend with his masters degree.

Maybe its because the first thing I saw this morning were these beautiful flowers a friend brought over last night

Maybe it's because my Brian brought me coffee this morning before he went to work.

Maybe it's because I finally got my business cards, and I LOVE them.

It's nice to wake up on a Monday and feel excited about my week. I have lots going on as far as "business" goes. I'm under a deadline with my design project. I have a super fun "SKULL" sewing project for a friend. I'm excited to go look at fabric today. I have another dogie photo shoot on Friday, a blanket to deliver to a friend (my first item to sell on KoDi shop), a dress to mail to Calia (winner of my Friday freebie), and I have WAY TOO MANY business cards than I know what to do with! This will be a fun week!

I got a design job...WOOHOO!

This is my main source of income, so after a good 2 month stretch of "little" things to do in the design world, it's nice to actually have a project. And now, of course, I'm starting to get some calls on other projects sneaking up....when it rains it pours right? So yes, I have been a bit busy with some design work.

There will be a lack of sewing in the next couple of weeks to come, but I'm still booking photography sessions left and right, which is SUPER exciting for me!

So yes, today and tomorrow I will be knee deep in carpet samples. My dining room table is currently lost under all the the books and drawings....funny stuff!

{Kelsey & Bentley} - Teaser

Yesterday, I had the privilege of hanging out with my friend Carey and taking pictures of her two favorites - Kelsey and Bentley!

Bentley the bull dog taught me a lot about trying to take pictures of doggies, he was so full of energy! He is guaranteed a spot in "my book" as one of the coolest dogs ever.

Kelsey was such a trooper. Just as we started our photo shoot, it started raining, and then throw in trying to get a picture with your very rambunctious dogie - and that makes for a tough photo shoot - especially with an amateur such as myself! But, both Kelsey and Bentley did a fabulous job....rain and all! This was a fun adventure, and I had a great time.....thank you so much Carey!

Sorry it took me so long to post this morning. I'm sure you have ALL been checking non-stop =)

I had a very early doctor appointment for my baby girl, and then I really wanted to post the drawing "live" - or at least post a video of the drawing. I tried for awhile to get it to upload. I have the video, and I see it on my desktop...but it's not translating to the blog....I need to figure it out! But basically if you saw the video, you would see every one's name in a bowl and me picking out CALIA's NAME....

{Karen and Family} - Teaser

This weekend, I had my very first "event" photo shoot.

I was really nervous. But once I got there...I just got behind the camera, did my thing, and I was surprised at how much FUN it was. Maybe it was the incredible family, or the beautiful scenery, but it was great!

Karen bid on me through a local auction I was involved in, won, and it turned out to be a super fantastic experience! This was a lovely family. I was so excited to be apart of their family celebration.

I was there for nearly 2 hours....and I have hundreds of pictures for them! I'm really excited to share all of them with the family! Here are a few teasers I have been able to go through so far.

{Bag} - Good Grief

I waste no time.

I'm on to sewing my first "bag". This is my 2nd attempt to my "1st bag". So is it still considered my first bag?

If it turns out alright, I plan to give it to a special little girl that is about to become a big sister!

It has not been as "smooth" as I thought it would be - I mean, it's a simple bag with a couple of pockets, how hard could it be? The fabric is all starting to run together, so I'm taking a break.

Is it too much to ask that it just work how it should?

Mom-made Easter outfits

I give myself a B- on my attempt to make Easter outfits for my kids. They turned out alright.

CONCLUSION:

1) Boy stuff needs to be easier to make!

2) On my girls outfit, I had something envisioned and although it turned out okay, it is NOT what the picture in my head looked like. So I definitely need to practice on making what is actually in my head

Like I said....I give it a B- or C+

On to the next project!

{Valerie} - A brave woman

I just met Valerie, who is due any day with her 2nd baby. 9 days ago, I put an announcement out through a local community E-mail about my new photography business/hobby. She e-mailed right away about wanting a photography session. And even though she knew I had never shot "pregnancy photo's", she took a chance on me and I'm so thankful to her! The experience was priceless, as was being able to meet her beautiful family!

Boy shirt: Difficulty - IMPOSSIBLE

I think "Boy" shirts are MUCH harder than girls dresses or blankets - HOLY MOLY!

(And I have to laugh because this is coming from me....who has been sewing for what, a few months! HA, everything is hard....). But seriously, I remember watching project runway and when ever the "guy" challenge would appear, I knew there were going to be some pretty screwed up outfits. I was always so curious how professional designers could screw it up so badly!

Anyway, I decided to venture in "boy shirt" land in hopes of making my son a shirt for Easter (and hopefully learning more about sewing on the way)....I did use a pattern as my "teacher", and all I have to say is:

1) The pattern was completely useless - SERIOUSLY USELESS - who

are the people that make these things??!?!

2) There has got to be an easier way, and I'm determined to figure out what that is!

Any who...it is almost done and I think he'll still be able to wear it, but HOLY FREAKING MOLY....

Next up....a dress for D so she and Ko can match on Easter (My Easter includes black. Pastels on Easter are banned in this household....hahah) - stay tuned!

She was one of my projects this weekend that I am trying to salvage. I was making her for a friend. Tink will need recovery after the weekend, but she just may pull through.

Over the weekend, I attempted 3 sewing projects and 1 painting that were pretty cute as I pictured them in my head...Well, out of the 4 projects, only 1 survived, Gretchen. She is a 3T tank - perfect for the nice weather that is just around the corner...I will certainly be able to finish her this week - pictures of the finished product to come! Stay tuned!

I have been able to set up a few photo sessions to really get some practice with shooting and editing. The more I do it, the more I am learning and becoming more confident in what I'm doing...I am so appreciative of everyone taking me up on my offer...THANK YOU

Before Andrea move across the country, she was gracious enough to meet me at a park so I could take pictures of her girls! I would consider this a "documentary style" photo session. For the most part, the girls just ran around, playing and doing what ever their hearts desired....and I just chased after with the camera, trying to capture the fun!

Thank you Andrea, I had a great time. N and D are so full of energy! Before you know it, little M will be able to keep up with her sisters! I loved watching them run around =) I look at these pictures and their personalities are just bursting!
